400 people attend the talks given by Dr Mariolina Ceriotti as part of the IESF’s seminar “Living as a family: Being different and growing together”
On 7 and 8 February, the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF) organised a seminar that included two talks by Dr Mariolina Ceriotti and a number of practical sessions at UIC Barcelona.
The programme, intended for teachers, heads of household, social workers, health personnel and the general public, succeeded in sparking the interest of 400 attendees in two days.
The first day of the seminar began with a practical session entitled “Men and women, how different are we?”, which was followed by the talk “Male and female: Meaning of the difference”, by neuropsychiatrist Mariolina Ceriotti.
During her presentation, the speaker discussed the meaning of masculinity and femininity based on outlooks on life and relationships. To support her claims, Ceriotti cited cases from her years of experience as a family and couples’ therapist, in which these concepts proved crucial in moving relations forward and raising children.
The next day, the University once again greeted the attendees with a practical session entitled “Paternity/Maternity: The difference that reveals who we are”, which addressed issues such as parental insecurity, setting limits and each parent’s role.
Afterwards, in her talk “Educating complementarity in the family”, Dr Ceriotti delved into the specific social structure of families and emphasised the importance of understanding that each child is different and that observation is an essential part of raising children.
