Abril Sánchez wins the “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes” competition

Abril Sánchez, a doctoral student in Health Sciences won the “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes” competition, organised by the UIC Barcelona Doctoral School.  Abril will be the UIC Barcelona representative at the university competition final, organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi).

On 4 May, the final stage of the internal “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes” competition took place in the Saló de Graus room on our Barcelona campus.  The 14 doctoral students who were candidates had to present the topic of their thesis, the key results and the meaning behind these in a maximum of 4 minutes.  They had to do so clearly, before a non-specialised audience.  

The jury members included Ramón Pellicer, a journalist from TV3 and a member of the University Advisory Council, Dr Ricardo M. Jiménez, a professor of written and oral communication in the faculties of Law and Humanities, and Elena Santa Maria, head of the evaluation and teaching innovation office at UIC Barcelona.  

The jury chose Abril Sánchez Botet as the winner. She is a Health Sciences doctoral student, and she won based on her presentation of her research project on cancer entitled “Divide (Para de dividir) y venceràs”. 

The winner will receive a fee waiver for the 2018-2019 academic year tuition fees. She will also represent UIC Barcelona in the inter-university final, organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi) which will take place on 6 June 2018 in the auditorium at the Movistar Centre.
