Alfons Puigamau gave a conference entitled “Epifanías del rostro hasta el arte de hoy” in Mexico.
Alfons Puigarnau, a professor of Human Thought in the School of Architecture, was a speaker for the Chair of Sacred Art at the University of Monterrey (UDEM) in Mexico. On 8, 9 and 10 September, under the auspices of Cardenal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Pontifical Committee for Sacred Archaeology, the UIC Barcelona professor described his studies on faces as seen through art.
Doctor Puigarnau was responsible for giving the first talk at the Thirty Fifth Chair on Sacred Art, which this year is entitled “Epifanías del rostro hasta el arte de hoy” in the UDEM Theatre, within the framework of celebrations for the 46th anniversary of the University of Monterrey (UDEM).
Over the six conferences, the professor gave a conceptual overview through European art from its origins to today, from the point of view of a face as a cultural revelation, describing how faces have been defining humans in art throughout history.
"I would say that faces will always have the ability to reveal truth, good and beauty throughout all times and through all different media" Puigarnau said in his talk.
