Alborada Gordillo, UIC Barcelona dentistry alumni (2020-2021 graduating class), has been awarded a grant from the Spanish Association of Endodontics thanks to her final degree project (TFG), titled “Asociación entre patología periapical y diabetes mellitus [Association between periapical disease and diabetes mellitus].”
The AEDE chose Alborada Gordillo’s final degree project for its scientific interest, and awarded a €1,500 grant and registration to the 42nd edition of the yearly National Endodontics Conference, which took place 27- 29 October in Zaragoza. This edition was dedicated to the continuing education of dental professionals.
The alumni’s award-winning project seeks to evaluate and compare the prevalence of apical periodontitis in teeth with and without endodontics in patients with and without diabetic pathology, and this prevalence with respect to the variables of age, sex, absence and position of the tooth, caries, maxillary bone condition and the incidence of apical periodontitis in patients according to their type of medication.
