Arasanz and Alférez Publish Book on Human Rights Education in School

Dr. Antoni Arasanz and Azul Alférez, professors in the Faculty of Education, have published the book «Human Rights Instruction and Practice».

As the authors explain in the book, in an increasingly diverse society, the regulating activity of the United Nations, a body whose composition clearly expresses the concept of universality, has established a shared heritage in which human rights are based on the concepts of universality, indivisibility and independence. Keeping this in mind, the international community should treat all human rights in a universal, fair, impartial and egalitarian way.

In the book, Arasanz and Alférez analyse the key role of education in meeting this objective. According to the two professors, “This is where education can achieve an objective that has been pursued from the very beginning: to teach the citizens of the future about human rights”.
