ATIC (Association of Universities with Information Technology and Communication Degrees) has just published the book Docencia e Investigación en Comunicación en España, which analyses the past and present of the country’s main communication faculties and dedicates a chapter to the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UIC Barcelona

The Association of Universities with Information Technology and Communication Degrees (ATIC) has just published the book Docencia e Investigación en Comunicación en España (“Teaching and Research in Communication in Spain”), which examines the history and current context of Spanish university faculties that teach communication-related degrees, with a view to highlighting the significant role they have played in consolidating the country’s communication culture.

The book dedicates a chapter to the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UIC Barcelona, which is written by the Faculty’s dean, Alfonso Méndiz, alongside the lecturer Isabel Villanueva, also from the Faculty. The chapter recounts the discipline’s trajectory from its beginnings to modern day, highlighting four important milestones in its current consolidation period: students’ continued growth, teachers’ and students’ international outlook, an increase in research and the number of six-year research periods and the launch of an inter-faculty doctoral programme. It also places an emphasis on the Faculty’s strategic positioning by identifying four key achievements: The Faculty’s international outlook, personalised student support, high-quality work placements tailored to personal projects and excellence in academic education.

This is the third book published by ATIC, an association made up of 43 faculties from all over Spain, represented by their respective deans and which aims to provide a space to foster and support common interests with a view to contributing added value to society.
