Awards Ceremony for 5th Edition of ComuniKa
On Thursday, 2 May 2013, the UIC Faculty of Communication Sciences held the awards ceremony for the 5th edition of ComuniKa, a competition for future university students interested in the world of communication that took place over three Saturdays in April.
During the competition, the students had to produce a TV commercial on the UIC based on the instructions they received. Nine projects were presented and first place went to the commercial "It's Not About What; It's About How".
The jury was made up of Dr. Ricard Mamblona, the Head of Studies for the Degree in Audiovisual Communication; Artur Paz, an independent online video producer at Meercacom and professor in the faculty; and Juan Pablo Huizi, a graphic designer and professor in the faculty. When judging the projects, the three professors paid special attention to creativity and how the final product responded to the instructions, regardless of the technical capacity shown.
First prize, which went to the commercial "It's Not About What; It's About How", was 50% of the enrolment fee for the first year of any degree programme in the UIC Faculty of Communication Sciences, as well as an iPod Shuffle. Second prize, which went to the commercial "Now It's Your Turn; the UIC is Waiting", was an iPod Shuffle. Third prize, which went to "The UIC Opens Its Doors", was a Marathon bag from the brand Munich, a sponsor of the contest.
This was the 5th edition of ComuniKa, a competition organized by the Faculty of Communication Sciences and the Information and Admissions Service in order to make the university's facilities (television studio, radio station, video editing rooms, multimedia rooms, etc.) available to secondary-school students and generate interest in its degree programmes. In this way, students interested in the world of communication can discover firsthand the specific area in the field that they most identify with.
