B-DAY 2021 explores the binomial between business and disability

This event enables students to develop skills such as analysis, teamwork, decision-making, and parallel thinking

Two years on, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences has again organised a Business Day (B-DAY), an event that allows students to learn about the different techniques that many companies currently apply to respond to the challenges in the market and is held over the space of a morning.

This year, under the title “Business and Disability, a 360° Strategy,” students had to work to overcome the challenges that Zurich Seguros and Fundación Prevent set them. These two companies both participated in B-DAY this year. The event was virtual and was handled by the TeamLabs platform team based on design thinking methodology and it enabled students to develop skills such as analysis, teamwork, decision-making, and parallel thinking.

The winning group out of those who worked on the Zurich Insurance challenge included students Ferran González, Gabriel Ladaga, Miguel Angel Masoliter, Inés Jordan and Ana Jordan, while the team including students Ignasi Lorga, Francisco Machado, Marina Castellanos and Lenard Dizon were the best team among those who tackled the Fundación Prevent challenge. The two companies confirmed that they will offer the winners of the respective challenges the opportunity to undertake a work placement in their company.

Human Resources and Corporate Responsibility consultant from Zurich Seguros, Elena Balletbó, thanked the students for their efforts and said they were “able to provide a concrete response to the challenge they were given.” On the other hand, the director for social and labour inclusion for people with disabilities at Fundación Prevent, Doriana Bagnoli, highlighted the fact that the students’ solutions “could be applied in a real environment” and praised those who focused on “making people with disabilities more visible.”
