Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine undergoing an accreditation process
The Bachelor's Degree in Medicine, offered at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is currently immersed in the accreditation process outlined in the Framework for the verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation of official degree programmes (MVSMA) established by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya). This accreditation process is particularly important, as it will also assess to what extent the degree complies with the international standards set by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). The WFME standards aim to improve the quality of medical education
On 5 and 7 May, an external assessment committee, comprising members of AQU Catalunya, will meet with representatives of the stakeholders involved in the degree programmes in order to assess their development. In line with the protocols approved by AQU Catalunya in view of the repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak, the visit will be made online.
The accreditation visit has the following objectives:
• To ensure the quality of the academic programmes offered, according to the qualification levels established and the criteria of the regulations in force;
• To guarantee that there is viable and reliable information that helps users of the university system in their decision-making, and
• To facilitate internal quality improvement processes and services designed for Catalan universities.
The self-assessment report, carried out and submitted as part of the accreditation process, will be made available to the wider educational community on UIC Barcelona's Educational quality webpage. Anyone wishing to view the report, and if they so wish, comment upon it, may do so. All comments should be sent to siqe@uic.es.
Also, due to the online format of the accreditation visits, AQU Catalunya will invite members of the public to form part of the audience, so that anyone may comment upon the development of the degree programmes. If you are interested in attending, you will need to be available to join the visit online on 7 May at 2.50 p.m. The access link can be found on the Faculty’s agenda.
