The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing of UIC Barcelona will have 30 extra places for the 2022-2023 academic year

UIC Barcelona has added 30 extra places to the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing for the 2022-2023 academic year, making a total of 120 places available

The Ministry for Health and the Ministry of Research and Universities have thus guaranteed that Catalan universities can increase the current offer of new places to the Degree in Nursing by 25%. The main objective of this increase is to respond to the high demand for this course and the shortage of nurses in Catalonia, which has become more evident in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, improvements to the curriculum are also planned to ensure comprehensive training for future nursing professionals. With this in mind, the nursing department of UIC Barcelona has been paying special attention to the development of fundamental competencies in the nursing environment for years: such as leadership, empowerment, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and communication with the patient among others. To this end, the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing have clinical practices in the Comprehensive Centre of Advanced Simulation of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The institutional meeting with the Minister for Research and Universities, Gemma Geis, was held on 21 April at the UB Paraninfo. The meeting was attended by the rector of UIC Barcelona Dr Alfonso Méndiz, and the vice-rector for Research and Director of the Nursing Department, Dr Cristina Monforte.
