Belén Zárate Publishes Monograph on Dependency Act

Dr. Belén Zárate, the Vice Rector of the University Community, has just published a monograph titled «Treating Dependency As a Social Right», in which she reflects on the difficulties of the new dependency law in a time of economic crisis such as this one.

According to Professor Zárate,
the monograph analyses “what is happening to the system created to protect
people with dependencies”, and the contradictions it faces “due to budget cuts,
which are, in particular, affecting the social policies that protect the
underprivileged”.

The book, published in
the “Policies of Social Welfare” collection by Tirant lo Blanch publishing company, attempts to show that the lack of definition and
guarantees typical of social rights threatens to do away with the protection
that had raised the hopes of families and society as a whole.
