The CAMFiC and UIC Barcelona sign a collaboration agreement to promote teaching and research in primary healthcare
Dr Antoni Sisó, president of the Catalan Society of Family and Community Medicine (CAMFiC), and the rector of UIC Barcelona, Dr Xavier Gil, have signed a collaboration agreement with a view to fostering joint initiatives in the field of training and research in primary healthcare
The agreement aims primarily to run specific academic programmes across both institutions, as well as joint research projects. The lines of action will focus mainly on promoting courses, seminars, conferences and other teaching activities related to family and community medicine, launching new postgraduate programmes in this field and undertaking research projects.
Present at the signing were the rector Xavier Gil, Dr Albert Balaguer and Dr Xavier Corbella, dean and vice dean (respectively) of our Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; Dr Antoni Sisó, president of the Catalan Society of Family and Community Medicine and Dr Esther Limón, a fellow CAMFiC member. Dr Limón will direct the first project run jointly by both institutions: a postgraduate course on chronic diseases and caring for people with complex needs. Its primary aim is to provide students with the skills they need to provide expert, comprehensive and integrated care in complex clinical cases, prioritising patients and underscoring the role family medicine plays in coordinating this type of care.
