Carlos Rey participates in the I Leaders with Purpose Forum by Vocento

Carlos Rey, director of the Chair of Management by Missions, reflected on the importance of management by missions and corporate purpose in a forum that brought together institutional representatives, humanist thinkers and CEOs of international companies

Carlos Rey, director of the Chair of Management by Missions at UIC Barcelona and the DPMC Foundation, spoke in the first edition of the Leaders with Purpose Forum, organised on Wednesday 9 October by Vocento at the Fundación Francisco Giner de los Ríos. In the section “Leading with purpose to attract the talent of the future and create a culture that will keep it”, Rey explained how companies with a clear and shared purpose manage to build stronger organisational cultures by being magnets for talent.

In its inaugural edition, the Forum presented a humanistic vision of business, addressing the current challenges of the business world from an innovative perspective. The event brought together prominent institutional leaders, humanists, scientists, technologists and CEOs to share their perspectives and strategies on how to create value beyond economic profit through purposeful leadership.

The Chair of Management by Missions and Corporate Purpose of UIC Barcelona, headed by Carlos Rey and Miquel Bastons, has been promoting and fostering the integration of mission and purpose in business management systems since 2012, the year of its creation. Thanks to the collaboration of the DPMC Foundation along with a group of companies from different sectors, the Chair promotes research into an organisational model based on people, their motivations and the meaning of their actions.

This first edition of the Leaders with Purpose Forum was attended by Antonio Garamendi, president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE); Borja Sémper, national spokesperson of the Popular Party; Rocío Albert López-Ibor, Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid; and the CEOs of companies such as Cepsa, Deloitte, Iberia, Ikea, Isdin, ISS, L'Oréal, Mahou San Miguel, Mapfre, McDonald's and Salesforce, to name but a few.
