Dr Carmen Cabezas has recently been appointed secretary of Public Health by the new president of the Generalitat of Catalunya. The former deputy director general of Health Promotion will now be taking over from Josep Maria Argimon, who will become the new head of the Department of Health.

Cabezas is a specialist in family and community medicine, a member of the teaching staff for the Master's Degree in Healthcare Management at the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and has led the vaccination programme in Catalonia during the pandemic. From now on, she will be tasked with running the Public Health Agency of Catalonia, at a time when the pandemic is still ongoing.
