The Catalan Audiovisual Cluster and Catalan universities have agreed to organize the University-Industry Audiovisual Pitching Event, a platform that will enable university students to present their best development projects to members of the audiovisual production industry.

The Catalan Audiovisual Cluster and Catalan universities have agreed to organize the University-Industry Audiovisual Pitching Event, a platform that will enable university students to present their best development projects to members of the audiovisual production industry. For the first time, a global agreement has been reached between the Faculties of Communication of Catalan universities and the audiovisual industry, as represented by the Catalan Audiovisual Cluster.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 21-22 October 2015, after a preliminary selection of the projects by the universities, followed by another selection by the industry, 27 audiovisual fiction, documentary and new format projects will be presented to sixty Catalan audiovisual companies.

A sales pitch is a short presentation of a project to potential backers with the aim of attracting attention and beginning negotiations towards a possible financing agreement. The objective of this pioneering initiative is to facilitate the professional development of students in the final year of the undergraduate programme and the master's programme in Audiovisual Communication and/or Film, and to establish contacts that generate industry awareness of emerging talent among university students.

The 12 Catalan universities participating in the event are Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Blanquerna Universitat Ramon Llull, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Universitat de Lleida (UDL), Universitat de Vic (UVIC), Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), La Salle Campus Barcelona Universitat Ramon Llull, Universitat Abad Oliba CEU, Escola Universitària ERAM (Universitat de Girona) and Escola Superior Politècnica del Tecnocampus (Mataró). Other universities are expected to get involved with the project in the near future.

The first edition of the University-Industry Audiovisual Pitching Event will be held at the Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture (CCCB) on Wednesday and Thursday, 21-22 October 2015.
