Close to 200 international exchange students arrive at UIC Barcelona
Last week was Welcome Week for international exchange students. Over the course of four days, the students had the opportunity to take part in a number of different activities organised by the International Relations Service.
The students’ countries of origin include, from Europe: Finland, Austria, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland; as well as, from the rest of the world: South Korea, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
The aim of the welcome activities was to introduce the exchange students to one another and help them adapt to Catalan culture, the university and the city of Barcelona.
During the week, in addition to the activities organised by the International Relations Service, they were also treated to sessions with the academic coordinators of each faculty, the Institute for Multilingualism and Student Services. As a result, almost 70 international students had the chance to learn and practice their first words in Catalan and gain insight into our social and cultural reality with an interactive workshop that included games and practical exercises.
On the last day, they were given a guided tour of Barcelona, during which they had an opportunity to discover Montjuïc, further their knowledge of Modernism and talk a walk through the Gothic Quarter.
