This year’s theme was “Caring for Society” and the research papers were presented last Saturday, 2 April at the closing ceremony in the Aula Magna of UIC Barcelona
The conference began on 16 October, when Ousman Umar, founder of the NGO Nasco Feeding Minds, gave an inaugural speech with the account of his personal story and the history of the organisation.
Students who participated in the congress could submit a scientific paper to be presented at the closing ceremony, which took place last Saturday.
The winning project was completed by a team of three UIC Barcelona students from 3rd year Biomedicine - Yaiza Moreno, Ana María Álvarez and Cristina del Hierro. Their work was titled “Reticence to Vaccination: causes and approach from a scientific dissemination viewpoint.” Aina Verdugo and Laura Argelich, students of the double degree in Humanities and Primary Education, also received a special mention.
At the end of the day, Mariona Guerrero, nurse and lecturer at Campus Sant Cugat, gave the closing speech in the Aula Magna of UIC Barcelona. She was accompanied by one of her patients, Angel Marçal, and between them they spoke about the nursing profession. As Dr Guerrero explained, “this profession has changed my life and the way I see little everyday things.”
