Commercial judges, professors and magistrates present the latest updates on refinancing agreements and insolvency

On 28 and 29 October, the Assembly Hall at UIC Barcelona played host to the conference "Restructuring companies in financial difficulty: Refinancing and insolvency agreements", organised by the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences and the M&M Abogados law firm.

The conference featured ten speakers, who consisted of commercial judges, professors and one magistrate from the First Chamber of the Supreme Court. Over two days, the speakers addressed the latest legal changes in ways to overcome financial difficulties when the debtor goes into crisis.

Altogether over 70 professionals took part, most of whom were attorneys, auditors or employees from the legal advisory services of several financial institutions, as well as a large group of judges in the process of specialising in commercial law.

The conference was held in light of two highly significant legislative changes which made the need to exchange knowledge and experiences and find out how these issues are being handled even more necessary. The purpose of these sessions was to update the attendees' knowledge and provide speakers and attendees a forum in which to exchange professional experiences. As regards the latter, before the conference began, both the attendees and speakers had an opportunity to discuss the resolutions subsequently addressed in the speeches.
