Comprehensive nZEB Renovation: Success Stories in Schools

On 17 November, the seminar Comprehensive nZEB Renovation: Success Stories in Schools, organised by the Chair of Industrialised Construction and the Environment (CEIM) at UIC Barcelona's School of Architecture and the technology centre Eurecat, was presented as part of the European project ZEMedS (Zero-Energy Mediterranean Schools).

It was a meeting held to discuss the dissemination and reflection of the mandatory energy policies handed down by the European Union in efforts to alleviate climate change through ZEMedS, a new energy design model for schools.

The aim of the ZEMedS project is to provide information on how to renovate schools in a Mediterranean climate to become nZEB, nearly Zero-Energy Buildings, and help the public sector implement the regulatory measures required to carry out this kind of renovation work.

The seminar was divided into two parts. The first part dealt with theory, and the second focused on providing practical examples. During the second part, Pich Architects, SUMO Arquitectes + Yolanda Olmo, María Teresa Mínguez Masó and Joan Ramon Dacosta Díaz presented their projects as success stories with regard to schools which are currently under development in Catalonia.
