The Cooperation and Sustainable Development Office organises an Active Mobility and Healthy Habits Day
The event brought together two specialists in the urban bicycle use,professionals from organic agriculture, the representative of Plogging Revolution in Catalonia and the Sant Cugat city councillor of Sustainability and Youth at the Sant Cugat Campus of UIC Barcelona.
The event began with a cycle from the city centre to the University. Various workshops, presentations and a closing concert took place over the morning.
The first workshop, entitled “Active mobility and the use of bicycles”, was led by Jordi Honey-Rosés, senior research researcher at the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología Ambientales (ICTA-UAB) and Yago Raventos, lecturer at the university's Faculty of Education Sciences and teacher at the Reial Monestir Santa Isabel Reial School. The speakers focused on the changing habits that families have made in recent years in larger Catalan cities, highlighting the emerging phenomenon of BiciBus.
The presentation of the Plogging project by Àlex García, lecturer of the Faculty of Dentistry, a workshop on ecological agriculture by the Ortiga cooperative and a visit to the university vegetable garden were the main events. The meeting finished with a few words from Alba Gordó, appointed councillor for Climate Emergency and Sant Cugat city councillor of Sustainability and Youth.
The day ended with a concert by a group of students in the green area of the Sant Cugat Campus, accompanied by brunch.
