The DECIDE Chair launches a podcast on nurse leadership
The monthly podcast will feature the DECIDE Chair's research team discussing issues related to nurse leadership, chronic patient empowerment, and patient safety. This podcast can be found on Spotify and iVoox
The first episode was released last December. In this episode, the podcast covers the 9th Interdisciplinary Day of Older People, which took place on 3 November and was organised and led by fourth-year nursing students at UIC Barcelona, under the supervision of lecturer Marian De Juan.
The first episode of the podcast features a discussion between Dr De Juan and some of the students from the event’s Organising Committee. In it, students talk about their experience and what it has meant for them, and lecturer De Juan's shares her experience as a supervisor. In the interview, Dr De Juan also talks about the scientific article published prior to the event that shows how participation has led to an improvement in students’ leadership competences.
The second episode is now available, and features an interview with Dr Cristina Monforte, vice rector of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, director of the Department of Nursing, and director of the WeCare Chair at UIC Barcelona.
When asked whether her position on the Board of Governors of the University is a new boost to the nursing profession, Monforte explains that “it is a position that normalises the academic development of nurses in the eyes of society. In a way, we normalise this profession as a fully-fledged academic discipline in all respects”.
This, in fact, is the purpose of the DECIDE Chair: a chair promoted in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company Boehringer-Ingelheim, centred on nurse leadership and on educating future professionals so that they can improve the care they provide to patients and users of the health system.
