Dentistry Faculty Attends Greater New York Dental Meeting

For the first time, the Faculty of Dentistry attended the Greater New York Dental Meeting, the 88th edition of which was held in New York City from 25 to 28 November 2012.

The Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM) is the
largest dental congress in the United States and the third largest dentistry
event in the world. It attracts more than 55,000 visitors from all over the
United States and from 132 different countries.

The Faculty of Dentistry was represented at the congress
by Lluís
Giner, the Dentistry Faculty Dean,
Joan Vidal, the General Manager of the Faculty and of the University Dental
Clinic (CUO), and Rufino Bueno, the Medical
Director of the CUO. The Faculty also had a booth at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre,
the congress venue.

More than 1800 brochures were handed out about the
faculty's programmes, including the bachelor's, official Master's and UIC
Master's programmes, clinical internships and continuing education programmes.
Moreover, the Faculty made 250 contacts with people interested in the UIC's
educational programmes.

Besides attracting strong interest in the university's
academic programmes, the Faculty was also able to make good contacts with other
universities such as New York University, with which the UIC has begun working
on an integrated Master's programme that would include a teacher-exchange
programme and also allow students to do the clinical practice portion abroad.
The Faculty of Dentistry also made contact with Buffalo University, with which
it has begun working on the creation of a joint bachelor's degree, a research
project on surfaces and a teacher-exchange programme. Contact was also made
through New York University with King Saud University in Riyadh about receiving
students from Saudi Arabia.
