Department of Nursing Takes Part in European Project on Innovation in Nursing Education

In June 2013, the Nursing Department of the UIC Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences participated in a European project within the framework of the Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme. The intensive Erasmus course was called Empowering Learning Environments in Nursing Education and took place at the University of Turku in Finland.

The programme was aimed at students of the Master’s and Doctorate degree programmes in Nursing in order to bring together students and academic staff from different countries to help guarantee high-quality nursing education.

The programme’s primary objectives were to standardize the training given to nursing educators within the European context and to explore new learning methods in the field of social media. It was the first joint European programme to focus on the training of teaching staff in the field of nursing.

During the conference, UIC teacher Pilar Fuster gave a talk on the teaching skills of nursing tutors.
