The DomusVi Foundation presents the Experience Campus with an award for its project at the sixth Awards for Social Commitment and the Improvement of Older People’s Quality of Life

The initiative “Socializar en tiempo de confinamiento”, presented by the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus, won second prize in the category “Colectivo de Mayores: personas mayores activas y solidarias”

On 30 November, the DomusVi Foundation held the ceremony for their sixth Awards for Social Commitment and the Improvement of Older People’s Quality of Life.

This year’s gala was held in person at the Amaya Theatre in Madrid, where a total of twelve people and organisations were awarded prizes for their contribution to the present and future of society and older people.

The UIC Barcelona Experience Campus was just one of the academic institutions to submit a project to the Awards. The initiative, titled “Socializar en tiempo de confinamiento” (Socialising under lockdown) and led by the director of the Campus, Jordi Miralbell, and lecturer Mavi Maestre, was awarded second prize in the category “Colectivo de Mayores: personas mayores activas y solidarias” (Older Persons’ Collective: Active and Charitable Older People).

The project was awarded a total of €1,500 and has allowed mature students to continue their studies online, bridging the digital gap and encouraging interaction using digital media.

The total amount of the prize money will go towards financing extra-curricular activities such as workshops or trips, thereby ensuring that no student finds themselves unable to participate due to a lack of resources.
