Dr. Carlos Espaliú Berdud Publishes Article in Belgian Review of International Law

Dr. Carlos Espaliú, the Director of the Charlemagne Institute for European Studies and a lecturer in European and Public International Law at the UIC’s Faculty of Law, has published a study of mandatory regulations in international law in the Belgian Review of International Law.

The study, which goes by the title of The Life and Death of Mandatory Regulations in International Law, is based on the different circumstances under which mandatory regulations have existed throughout human history, from their “birth”, or creation, to their “death”, or termination.

Dr. Espaliú also looks at the effects such regulations can have throughout their existence and on the circumstances that could threaten their survival. He also discusses whether, in some way, these regulations existed prior to their formal creation and whether they will persist after their “death”.

According to the CARHUS Plus+ 2014 ranking, the Belgian Review of International Law is one of the most important European journals in the field of international law.
