Dr. Comas Speaks at Edu21 Prize Ceremony

On Wednesday, 12 December 2012, Dr. Miguel Ángel Comas, a professor in the UIC Faculty of Education, participated as a speaker at the ceremony to present the Edu21 Prize as part of the 22nd Edu21 Forum, which was titled «A Look Around the World: Benchmark Activities in Education».

This year’s edition included an overview of
some of the educational approaches that can serve as benchmarks, as well as a
discussion on some of the issues surrounding the changes that should be made to
the education system. Specifically, it analysed how education centres are
managed and how this can impact student learning and teacher wellbeing. The
Swedish Järfälla model was put forward as an example and there were references
to the French role of the maître formateur (master trainer), as well as to other aspects
relating to the curriculum and work placements in early teacher training.

Among the speakers was Dr. Comas, an expert on the
Swedish and French models. The forum also included a debate moderated by Edu21
Coordinator Enric
Roca in which
the participants attempted to draw some conclusions for improving the Catalan
education system.

During the event, the sixth Edu21 Prize was
presented by Jordi Pujol, the former president of the Catalan government.
