Dr Conrado Aparicio joins the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) as an associate researcher

Aparicio is the first UIC Barcelona researcher to join the IBEC within the framework of the FBA Fellows programme promoted by the Bosch Aymerich Foundation

Dr. Conrado Aparicio, a researcher at the Faculty of Dentistry, has recently joined the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) as an associate researcher, along with seven other researchers from different Catalan universities to develop lines of research that are of interest to IBEC fields of work.

As an expert in biomaterials and dental implants, Aparicio will be able to explore collaborations with other IBEC members and work on developing the “Bioinspired Biomaterials and Interfaces” project. This is a multidisciplinary research project to create advanced biomaterials for the repair and regeneration of human tissues in dental, orthopaedic and other biomedical applications. The project takes inspiration from nature to incorporate biofunctionality into the surfaces of biomaterials and human tissue interfaces. One of the main objectives of the research is to study the application of these concepts for the study, support and treatment of diseases that mainly affect older people.
