Dr. Frederic Marimon Receives ACCID Research Grant

On Friday, 29 May 2015, Dr. Frederic Marimon, a lecturer at the UIC Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, received a grant to carry out his research project, “Citizen Perception of Corporate Social Responsibility of Companies in Catalonia”.

The aim of the project is to analyse how Catalan citizens feel about companies that include a social component in their corporate mission. Results will be compared to those of other countries and Spain in particular.

Standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are becoming increasingly more important throughout the world and serve as a response to the demands of a variety of stakeholders. These standards have increased in both number and popularity in recent decades and are even considered “ethical” to a certain extent, given that they bring a moral focus to the globalized, multicultural perspective. They are standards that are based on a comprehensive agreement regarding relevant, basic social considerations.

The research grant was awarded to Dr. Marimon at the 12th edition of the ACCID Awards, which formed part of the 6th ACCID Congress.

The awards are given to researchers and professionals who submit proposals for research into areas such as best practice and financial information, accounts management and corporate intellectual capital, among others.

The panel of judges was made up of Alfredo Rocafort, the Vice President of ACCID and Professor of Accounting at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB); Fernando Campa, a spokesman for the Board of Directors of ACCID and a lecturer at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV); and Emili Gironella, a Managing Partner at Gironella Auditores.
