Dr Lluís Giner presents on the UIC Barcelona School of Dentistry's experience of the pandemic at the International Federation of Dentistry Schools and Faculties
The dean of the faculty made his presentation at the annual meeting of the International Federation of Dentistry Schools and Faculties, which this year was held on a virtual basis
Friday 19 June was the annual meeting of the International Federation of Dental Schools and Faculties (FIEFO) that was due to be held in Mexico this year. Due to the current situation, the session was held in a virtual manner and was attended by more than 80 deans and teachers from 50 Latin American and Spanish universities.
Dr Lluís Giner, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry of UIC Barcelona, gave the conference “Teaching and clinical procedures at COVID-19 at the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Dentistry”. The main objective was to share with international experts how the changes caused by the pandemic have been experienced at the Faculty. In addition, he also discussed the rapid adaptation of the teaching staff and service staff, which enabled students to continue their studies online.
Dr Giner explains, “The great effort made by the whole university community and the speed which the changes have been implemented to adapt us to the new situation has not only enable us to complete the academic year having met the educational objectives, but also to be able to reopen the University Dental Clinic.” “This way we can again care for our patients while our students continue their clinical practice. This has all been made possible by integrating strict health and safety protocols to ensure the health of both patients, teachers and Master's students.”
