Dr. Lorente Discusses Acupuncture for Chronic Pain

Dr. Marian Lorente, a professor in the UIC Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, gave the talk «Action of Acupuncture in Chronic Pain» at the third European Multidisciplinary Pain Meeting, which took place from Thursday to Saturday, 2-4 May 2013, in Menorca.

Over two days, practical workshops and seminars dealt with the problem of pain from the points of view of different disciplines in the health field. Some of the issues discussed were the role of rehabilitation specialists in pain treatment, the importance of routes of administration in treating breakthrough pain and approaches to chronic pain in primary care.

Dr. Lorente gave the talk "Action of Acupuncture in Chronic Pain", in which she discussed how acupuncture can be used to treat chronic pain. The talk took place during the roundtable discussion on the role of acupuncture in pain treatment.

The congress, organized by the Clinical Pain Institute, brought together approximately 600 professionals. The seminars and workshops were led by members of different pain teams and units from hospitals around the world.
