Dr Sandra Fernández and Dr María Arregui participate in the 6th International Women’s Leadership Conference

Dr Fernández, Institutional Vice-Dean, and Dr Arregui, a lecturer on the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry, travelled to Brescia (Italy) with other representatives from the Faculty of Dentistry to present posters at the International Women’s Leadership Conference VI and the third edition of the Shaping the Future of Dental Education – Oral Health from a Global Perspective

On 23 and 27 April, the Italian city of Brescia played host to two of the leading international events in the field of dentistry, both organised by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). Lecturers from the Faculty of Dentistry participated in both gatherings, presenting various papers. 
 
As part of the 6th International Women’s Leadership Conference, Dr Sandra Fernández and Dr María Arregui presented the paper “Women in academic dentistry and administrative roles: a dental school in Spain and the U. S.”, on research conducted jointly with the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. They also participated in some of the practical workshops on negotiation, where they were able to share experiences with teaching staff from other universities around the world. 
 
Additionally, on 25 and 27 April, the University of Brescia was the site of the third edition of the gathering Shaping the Future of Dental Education – Oral Health from a Global Perspective, held every two years by ADEA and ADEE. Participating in the gathering on behalf of the Faculty of Dentistry were the dean, Dr Lluís Giner, and Drs Feliciana Navalón and Arregui, lecturers on the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry. The three presented the poster “Assessment of knowledge regarding dental implantology in undergraduate students”, on research conducted jointly with Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. They also participated in the different working groups created for the attendees to discuss current issues facing the universities responsible for training the next generation of dentists.
