Edmon Roch, winner of a Best Production Director Goya for ‘El Niño’, patron of the VI IMMA Awards
Edmon Roch, producer, scriptwriter and Catalan writer, as well as founder of the Ikiru Films Production Company and vice-president of the Academia del Cine, will act as patron for the VI edition of the IMMA awards.
Edmon Roch, producer, scriptwriter and Catalan writer, as well as founder of the Ikiru Films Production Company and vice-president of the Academia del Cine, will act as patron for the VI edition of the IMMA awards. It is an audiovisual show organised by the Faculty of Communication Sciences, during which final year students on the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication will screen their final degree projects before a specialised jury and compete for various awards.
Highlights from Edmon Roch's background include a Goya Award and a Gaudí Award in 2015 for the Best Producer/Director for the film ‘El Niño’ and a Goya Award in 2009 for the best documentary film, a Gaudí Award for Best Documentary and Best Script, and a Giraldillo de Oro Award for the Best European Documentary Film for ‘Garbo the Spy’.
His credits as a Producer include: ‘Barcelona’, by Whit Stillman; ‘El efecto mariposa’ by Fernando Colomo (1995); ‘Seven Years in Tibet’ by Jean-Jacques Annaud, where he was Head of Production; and ‘The Last Days of Dico’ by Whit Stillman (1998). He was also the Producer/Director and Delegate Producer for the first and third of ‘The Tulse Luper Suitcases’ films, by Peter Greenaway (2002/04).
Edmon Roch was also a Producer/Director for the series by Fernando Colomo entitled ‘Famosos y familia’ for TVE (1999). As a scriptwriter, he wrote the award-winning medium-length documentary film ‘Away from the Flock’, about the British artist Damien Hirst (1994), ‘Tic tac’ by Rosa Vergés (1997), ‘Smalls’ for Immi Pictures (1998) and ‘Mia Sarah’ by Gustavo Ron (2006). More recently he published a book entitled “Películas Clave del Cine Bélico” (Ed. Ma Non Troppo, 2008).
Through his company, Ikiru Films, Edmon Roch was also a Delegate Producer for the film ‘Perfume. The Story of a Murderer’, by Tom Tykwer (2006). Also, after his stint as Producer and Executive Producer on ‘La luna en una botella’ by Grojo (2007), he produced, wrote and directed ‘Garbo. The Spy’ (2009), which obtained the Goya Award for Best Documentary, the Gaudí Award for Best Documentary and Best Script and the Giraldillo de Oro for the Best European Documentary Film.
He was Co-Producer of ‘Biutiful’ by Alejandro González Iñárritu (2010) and ‘Pope Joan’ by Sönke Wortmann (2009) and produced ‘Lope’ by Andrucha Waddington (2010), ‘Bruc’ by Daniel Benmayor (2010), ‘Promoción Fantasma’ by Javier Ruiz Caldera (2012), ‘Las Aventuras de Tadeo Jones’ by Enrique Gato, ‘Séptimo’ by Patxi Amezcua (2013) and ‘El Niño’ (2014) by Daniel Monzón. He is currently producing a full-length animated film called ‘Capture the flag’ by Enrique Gato.
