Elizabeth Alssen, lecturer at the University of Lapland, visits UIC Barcelona once again

The lecturer from the University of Lapland (Finland) also opened the Postgraduate Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language

One more year, Elizabeth Alssen, a lecturer at the University of Lapland, came to UIC Barcelona through the Erasmus+ programme. From January 7 to 10, Alssen was able to observe some of the Faculty of Education classes conducted in English and exchange views with the teaching staff on the bilingual Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Alssen explains, “In addition to the professionalism of the teachers, I was impressed by the students’ engagement in their learning in all the classes. That’s something very important. I’m going home with a lot of ideas and, with the permission of the UIC Barcelona lecturers, I’m looking forward to putting some of them into practice in my courses.”

For the third year running, Alsen opened the Postgraduate Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language as part of her stay. Elizabeth spoke about Teaching English as a Foreign Language in the context of Finland and discussed some aspects of the evolution of the English language from a historical perspective.
