Dr Enric Vidal is the new Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences at UIC Barcelona for the new academic year 2022-2023. The teacher is taking over from Esther Jiménez, current Vice Rector of the University Community at UIC Barcelona.

The new Dean, who was head of the Faculty between 2014 and 2015, is eager to start this new chapter and is determined to continue "teaching UIC Barcelona students a wide range of teaching skills and effective methodologies supported by science, at a time of great general confusion”, says Vidal. One of the challenges facing the new Dean is the current educational panorama, “which is based a plethora of innovations that haven’t been tested enough and therefore are not wholly effective”, says the teacher. 

With this in mind, as well as the other challenges we are facing as a society, Dr Vidal’s main objective for his Faculty are to “offer future teachers a quality and rigorous education based on and supported by science, and one that really instils in them the numerous competences they will need in the future”. 

Vidal explained that he will strive to continue focusing on people, who have always been at the heart of learning and who are joined by a highly qualified teaching and research team that bases its teaching on science.

The new Dean took up his post at the beginning of the new academic year, after seven years living in Girona.
