ESARQ Professors Dr. Judith Urbano and Dr. Guillem Carabí Contribute Two Articles to Journal Matèria

Dr. Judith Urbano and Dr. Guillem Carabí, professors of Composition and Graphic Expression at the ESARQ School of Architecture, have contributed two articles to the latest issue of Matèria. Revista internacional d'Art.

The journal has been relaunched in the world of periodicals. To mark the occasion, a presentation ceremony was organized by Dr. Jordi Coca on Wednesday, 22 October 2014, and featured speeches by Dr. Rosa Alcoy and Dr. Magda Polo, editors at the journal.

Matèria is a journal published by the History of Art Department at the Universitat de Barcelona Faculty of Geography and History. It features articles by renowned academics who are specialist scholars in various fields of theory and history of art.

Issue 8 addresses topics related to sculptural painting and decoration in the modern period, architecture and urban planning in 19th-century Barcelona and Catalan sculpture of the second decade of the 20th century.

In this context, ESARQ professor Dr. Urbano contributed an article called “Noves aportacions sobre la façana i el pati de la Casa Gralla” (“Fresh insight into the façade and courtyard of the Casa Gralla”), which explores three little-known aspects of the Casa Gralla rarely discussed by historians.

Guillem Carabí, another professor at the ESARQ School of Architecture, analyses the unique piece that crowns the Casa Bofarull, a building designed by architect Josep M. Jujol, in his article “L’àngel penell que corona la Casa Bofarull: algunes consideracions a l’entorn de l’escultura” (“The angel weather vane that crowns the Casa Bofarull: some thoughts on the sculpture”).
