ESARQ School of Architecture Celebrates 10-year Anniversary of School's First Graduating Class
On Friday, 11 May 2012, the ESARQ School of Architecture (ESARQ-UIC) organized its third alumni reunion, which was attended by around fifty alumni from the different graduating classes and professors. The reunion gave participants the chance to relive old times and, especially, to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the School's first graduating class.
A total of 20 alumni from that first graduating class
attended the event. To mark these ten years, the ESARQ School of Architecture presented
everyone with a commemorative gift. The reunion was focused primarily on the
alumni from the first graduating class and ended with a dinner for them, accompanied
by the School’s first director, professor Alberto
Estévez, and its current
director, Vicenç Sarrablo. During the dinner, a video was shown of the best
photographs from the ESARQ’s early years.
Highlighting the importance that the ESARQ places on
continuing education, the celebration commenced with a conference led by the
architect Joan Roig, from the studio Batlle i Roig Architects, who shared his latest landscaping projects with the audience.
During the reunion, special
mention was made of how important it is for alumni to feel they are a part of
the School and maintain ties to help them with their training. The participants
were therefore encouraged to share their visions, opinions and concerns,
especially through the alumni pages on social networks, so that the UIC can continue
to meet the needs of alumni working in the profession. It was also announced
that the alumni reunion will take place every year on the last Friday in May.
