Esther Jiménez, new Dean of the Faculty of Education

A scientific contributor to the department of Department of Managing People in Organisations at IESE and member of the IESE-Women in Leadership, Esther Jiménez recently took over from Asun Verdera. She did so while aware of the fact that “The Faculty of Education is responsible for educating people who will be at the forefront of education in our country in the future”.

The new Dean stated that she is taking on this new position based on “responsibility and enthusiasm”.  “It is a challenge since the Faculty of Education trains the teachers who have to educate future generations, and this is very exciting, while at the same time I see that UIC Barcelona, in a few short years, has managed to place itself at the cutting-edge in terms of educational quality”.

With a degree in Law and Labour Science, and a degree in Social Sciences from the University of Barcelona and a Master’s degree in Business Leadership from the Open University of Catalonia, Jiménez has started to take the wheel at the “in a Faculty which has a strong future ahead of it, due to the quality of the lecturers and professors, who, beyond academic excellence, and the mere transmission of knowledge, also boost the talent of each of the students and help them to develop their competences”.  “I am convinced - she ended- that the Faculty of Education is responsible for educating people who will be at the forefront of education in our country in the future”.

Esther Jiménez came to us from the IESE Business School, where she continues to be a scientific contributor to the Department of Managing People in Organisations, where she taught on the Management Development Programme.  A doctoral candidate at the University of Navarra, the areas of specialisation are leadership, motivation and the development of management skills, the work-life balance and family and female leadership.  Among other posts, over the past five years she has also been the Manager of the International Center For Work and Family (ICWF) at IESE. She was the Director of Pineda School for twenty years, in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat, and of the Avantis Centre for Pre-Primary Education, of which she is also a founder.
