The Experience Campus gathers together more than a hundred students at the welcome sessions

In October, thirty mature students will begin the first year of the Senior University Graduate Programme in Culture, Science and Society

On 28 and 30 September the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus welcomed a hundred mature  students to the institution, thirty of whom were new students while the rest were already part of the university community and are between second and third year.

This year, two face-to-face welcome sessions were held, in compliance with anti-Covid health and safety measures, the first aimed at first-year students.

Both sessions were introduced by the Director of the Experience Campus, Jordi Miralbell, who described the services offered by the University, the benefits of taking a university programme for mature students, as well as an overview of the curriculum. Miralbell stressed the “importance of experiencing university life for the first time or reliving your university experience after retirement” and encouraged them to “enjoy the classes taught in our faculty on topics like philosophy, culture and art, psychology, and technology, for example”.

The academic coordinator of the Experience Campus and vice-dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences, Dr Salvador Vidal, also participated in the sessions, and set up some group dynamics so that everyone could get to know each other. Before this, Monseigneur Albert Ribot introduced himself to all the students as the representative of the UIC Barcelona Chaplaincy Service.

The sessions ended with talks from several lecturers from the Experience Campus, who described the working methodology that will be followed during the academic year. The Campus coordination team described in detail the various technical aspects that students have to take into account when they register and access the intranet, etc.
