'Extreme Sequences' Exhibition Extended to 25 February

The 'Extreme Sequences' exhibition, which was organized by the ESARQ School of Architecture to celebrate the institution's 15th anniversary, has been extended until Saturday, 25 February 2012, due to the high number of visitors it has attracted.

Dozens of people have visited the
Architecture Institute of Catalonia (COAC) to see the "Extreme
Sequences" exhibition, which has been extended until Saturday, 25 February
2012, thanks to its success. The exhibition demonstrates the teaching methods
of the ESARQ School of Architecture through two extreme sequences: projects by
first-year students and final degree projects by fifth-year students.

The first-year projects demonstrate the
relationship between material and form, two basic concepts that students learn
about right at the beginning of the course. In contrast, the final degree
projects are divided into three lines of research that employ different methods
depending on the theme chosen by the students.

The exhibition opened on Monday, 23
January 2012, with a roundtable session involving architects and professors
from the ESARQ School of Architecture. The session was titled "What do the
terms 'commitment' and 'innovation' mean within the context of teaching
architecture?" The opening of the exhibition also included the launch of
the book
Secuencias
Extremas
(Extreme Sequences), a collection of photos of projects on
show at the Architecture Institute of Catalonia (COAC).

The ESARQ organized this exhibition
with the aim of demonstrating its teaching methods while encouraging students
to acquire a social perspective on architecture.
