The Faculty of Dentistry holds its first Recruitment Day
The event was organised by Alumni & Careers and the Faculty's Institutional Department, and was attended by more than 50 students from bachelor’s, master's and postgraduate degrees, as well as some from clinical residencies
On Wednesday 14 July, the Faculty of Dentistry and Alumni & Careers held their first Recruitment Day, which they organised jointly. The Day was aimed at budding dentists keen to learn about the world of professional dentistry and the sector’s career opportunities awaiting them after graduation. The event was attended by 46 bachelor’s degree students and 13 master's degree, postgraduate degree and clinical residency students.
The first part of the Day involved a round table featuring teaching staff and Alumni from the Faculty currently working in the sector, who shared personal and professional experiences from their various spheres of work within the world of dentistry.
Dr Blanca Paniagua and Dr Adriana Rojas explained to their audience what is involved in opening and managing a clinic of one’s own, or to work as a freelance specialist across different clinics. Then, Dr Júlia Bech explained what a dentist’s job involves if they work directly for one clinic. Dr Elena Criado was tasked with explaining another area of dental work, that of being part of a multinational dental company. Finally, Dr Carlos Muñíz spoke about the option of working in primary healthcare centres for the public health system.
Following the round table, the guest companies ̶ Laborare Conseil, Sanitas Clínicas Dentales, Ilerdent, Jober Group, Institutos Odontológicos, Dental Residency ̶ gave presentations and then conducted pre-scheduled interviews some of the attendees. "Over the course of the day, more than 50 applications were submitted to the advertised job offers, and 33 interviews were conducted with 15 students", said the Recruitment Day organisers.
