The Faculty of Dentistry, at the National Osteology Symposium Spain

Four Dentistry lecturers from UIC Barcelona gave lectures and conferences at the National Symposium that the Osteology Foundation organised in Barcelona on 17 and 18 February.

Federico Hernández Alfaro and José Nart delivered two conferences: “Reconstrucción de la sonrisa mediante reposición esquelética” [Smile Reconstruction Through Skeletal Repositioning] and “¿Cómo tratar la periimplantitis? Diferentes opciones terapéuticas” [How to Treat Peri-Implantitis? Different Therapy Options], respectively.

In the Osteology Research Forum category, Periodontics lecturers Lucía Barallat and Ernest Rojo both offered lectures. Barallat gave a conference entitled "Radiographic and histologic evaluation of deproteinized bovine bone mineral vs. deproteinized bovine bone mineral with 10% collagen in ridge preservation. A randomized controlled clinical trial". Rojo, in turn, delivered a lecture titled "Soft tissue volume gain around dental implants using autogenous epithelial connective tissue graft from the palate or tuberosity. A randomized prospective clinical study”.

The National Osteology Symposium Spain assembled in Barcelona the best national and international experts in the field of soft and hard tissue regeneration and stood as a point of reference for all oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists and oral health professionals interested in implantology and regenerative therapies.

The scientific programme at the 2017 Osteology Symposium Spain touched upon many of the issues that arise in everyday clinical practice with regards to the use of therapies aimed at regenerating bone and soft tissue.

The mission of the Osteology Foundation is to link science and practice. To this end it also organised a research forum in which young researchers presented their most relevant findings on regenerative therapies.
