Faculty of Dentistry Organizes and Hosts International Medigene Seminar

On Thursday, 5 March 2015, UIC Barcelona hosted the International Medigene Seminar, which it co-organized with the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC). This seminar was part of the European project on obtaining DNA from teeth, titled “Genetic and environmental factors in insulin resistance syndrome and its long-term complications in immigrant Mediterranean populations”.

This seminar was divided into half-hour lectures given by Faculty lecturer and seminar promoter Maite Salagaray, as well as lecturers from the Université de Montpellier and professionals from the ICAC and the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS).

Following a total of six lectures, there was time for the attendees to discuss the subjects raised throughout the day.

In February 2015, UIC Barcelona and the ICAC, of which Maite Salagaray is also a member, signed a collaboration agreement for studying the burial ground to the east of Tarraco. The UIC Barcelona will provide scientific advice, while the ICAC will be responsible for logistics.
