On 21 and 22 October, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Annual Meeting was held in Seville, in which the induction of Dr Akram Ali Hussein, academic vice-dean of the Faculty of Dentistry took place.
The event was led by Dr Josep Maria Ustrell Torrent, dean of the University de Barcelona Faculty of Dentistry and chair of the Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentistry in Spain; as well as UIC Barcelona scholars Dr Lluís Giner Tarrida, dean the Faculty of Dentistry; and Dr Anna Hospital Ribas, lecturer in the legal and forensic field, and secretary general of the Academy in Spain.
During the meeting, new scholars entering the academy presented a paper. Among the candidates inducted was Dr Akram Ali Hussein, who presented his paper titled “Manejo del dolor postoperatorio en endodoncia [Management of Postoperative Pain in Endodontics.”
The Pierre Fauchard Academy is comprised of 142 sections spread over the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. and it totals more than 11,000 scholars. The Spain section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy is the only dental organisation in Spain of this kind and brings together 75 dentists elected from among the professionals who are part of the Spanish Dentistry Association.
