The Faculty of Humanities at UIC Barcelona co-organises the 17th Annual Meeting of the Collegium Politicum

The conference took place on 26 and 27 of May and brought together philosophers from the international field to talk about pain and punishment in ancient thought.

The event was co-organised by the Collegeium Politicum with support from UIC Barcelona, the Chair for Social and Restorative Justice Pere Tarrés -URL, the University of Barcelona and the Catalan Association of Philosophy.

During the two-day event the issue of pain and punishment in ancient thought was discussed, focusing attention above all on the reflections of Plato and Aristotle. It was tackled from the physiological perspective of pain to its most spiritual meaning, looking at its political and educational relevance in particular, by means of punishment and a feeling of shame.
