FDM Awards Prizes to Faculty of Dentistry in Every Category

The UIC Barcelona Faculty of Dentistry was richly rewarded at the Dental Forum of the Mediterranean (FDM), which was held at the Fira de Barcelona trade fair complex from Tuesday, 7 to Thursday, 9 April 2015. The UIC Barcelona representatives won first place in every category: clinical cases, research, reviews and posters. This edition of the forum, which is held twice a year, was attended by Dr. Lluís Giner, the Dean of the Faculty, and Joan Vidal, the General Manager of the Faculty and the University Dental Clinic (CUO), along with a number of other teaching staff who manned the Faculty of Dentistry’s stand and gave out information to everyone who approached.

The winners in the Clinical Case category were Marc Llaquet and Juan Mora from the Endodontics programme, with their case “Intentional Replantation as a Means of Treating Developed Sulcus”; Gabriella Giacobbe D’Alessandro from the Dental Aesthetics programme, with her case “An Aesthetically Guided, Multidisciplinary Approach to a Rehabilitation”; Rodrigo González from the Implantology programme, with his case “Immediate or Delayed Implants: What Should We Do?”; Diana Pellicer from the Pedodontics programme, with her case “Anterior Autotransplants: Long-Term Stability?”; Joana Planas Callicó from the Orthodontics programme, with her case “Gingival Investigation in Orthodontic Patients with Extractions: Impact, Location and Related Factors.  A Retrospective Study”; Beatriz de Tapia Pastor from the Periodontology programme, with her case “A New Perspective on Regenerative Therapy in Peri-Implant Defects: Is an Allograft Impregnated with Vancomycin and Tobramycin Effective?”; and Berta Paulo Rodríguez from the Dental Prosthetics programme, in collaboration with fellow student Luis Jane, with their case “To Keep or to Extract?”.

In the Research category, Javi Vilarrassa Sánchez from the Periodontology programme won with his project “Antibacterial Strategies to Prevent Inflammatory Peri-Implant Diseases”, while the Posters category was won by the degree student Laura Pérez Torra and the postgraduate student Antonio Vázquez.
