For the first time, UIC Barcelona has received a classification in the THE ranking in the subject of Social Sciences, and maintains its classification in the Clinical and Health

UIC Barcelona has been ranked in the subject of Social Sciences for the first time in the international ranking Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject and has retained its position in the subject of Clinical and Health.

In this 2024 edition, in the field of Social Sciences UIC Barcelona obtained position 801+ of the 997 universities classified worldwide, and at national level it is in position 38+ of the 44 ranked universities. In the field of Clinical and Health, UIC Barcelona maintains its position 601-800 out of the 1,059 universities classified, and at the national level it is positioned in range 15-38 of the 43 universities that appear in the ranking.

The disciplines included in the Clinical and Health field are Medicine, Dentistry, as well as others related to health. In the field of Social Sciences, the disciplines of Communications and Media Studies, Politics and International Studies (including development studies), Sociology and Geography are included.
In the field of Clinical and Health, UIC Barcelona has improved its scores in four of its five pillars: research quality, international outlook, research environment and teaching. At the national level, UIC Barcelona has reached the third position in the area of international outlook, after Pompeu Fabra University and the University of Barcelona.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject offers a ranking of the best universities in the world by field, covering eleven subject areas (Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Clinical and Health, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Science, Psychology and Social Sciences), and it provides an overview of the best institutions in the world to study the chosen discipline.

The methodology used in World University Rankings by subject is based on the eighteen performance indicators used in Times Higher Education World University Ranking, grouped into five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. These are recalibrated to adapt to each specific area.

The objective of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the performance of different aspects of the University through data and evidence,  allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
