Forty executives from Spanish and international companies participated in a seminar on Mission Leadership here at UIC Barcelona

A group of forty executives from all over Spain, Portugal, Peru and Israel participated on 22 and 23 October in a seminar on "Mission Leadership" organised by the Chair for Mission Leadership and Corporate Governance at UIC Barcelona.

Over the two days, participants studied the key ways to achieve greater commitment in organisations, from using the necessary tools to generate change focused on missions to the latest trends in the strategic and organisational fields.  All of this was brought to the attendees by experts such as the IESE professor Antonio Argadoña; the Director of the Chair, Dr Carlos Rey, and Dr Miquel Bastons.

Attendees were also able to learn at first hand about the experiences of company directors who are already using this style of leadership focusing on the mission such as is the case with the Jiménez Maña company, Portuguese Repsol, Vygon or JJCC.

The sessions combined conference-colloquiums with a discussion of practical cases and workshops.

Mission leadership offers a new management approach which enriches traditional objective-based management. The system incorporates the mission into the management system:  mission leadership guides the objectives towards the service of the mission and promotes commitment from workers.

The Chair for Mission Leadership and Corporate Governance at UIC Barcelona receives support from seven companies in various sectors:  Jimenez Maña - (the automobile sector), Semillas Fitó (the agricultural sector), Kern Pharma (the pharmaceutical sector), Aitex (the textile sector), JJC Contratistas Generales (the construction sector), HUF Portuguesa (the automobile sector) Industrial Química del Nalón (the chemical sector) and Vygon (the healthcare sector).
