Fourth International Practical Course in Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Rejuvenation Closes Its Doors

From Thursday, 23 to Friday, 24 April 2015, over twenty surgeons met at the UIC Barcelona for the 4th International Practical Course in Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Rejuvenation, which was organized by the Surgical and Functional Anatomy Lab. Students worked on cryopreserved material from the Laboratory's Body Donation Service and had access to prestigious plastic surgeons such as Dr. Tapia and Dr. Grella.

The course included both a theoretical and a practical session and was directed by faculty professors Dr. Josep Maria Serra-Renom and Dr. Marian Lorente, along with Dr. Francesco D'Andrea from the Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli. The theoretical session explained the key anatomical points and advances in surgical techniques in plastic surgery, while the practical session allowed students to work on dissecting anatomical structures and practise surgical techniques.

The course was the fruit of collaboration between the UIC Barcelona and the Seconda Università degle Studi di Napoli and aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of the delicate structures in facial anatomy, such as the facial nerve, extraocular muscles, orbital fat, reticular ligaments and mimetic muscles and the interrelation of all these structures in the field of facial cosmetic surgery.
