What are the legal risks of cybersecurity and digital transformation? A broad question that, on 10 May, a group of ICT directors, together with numerous industry professionals, shed light on at UIC Barcelona.

The director of UIC Barcelona’s Master’s Degree in Cybercrime, Dr José Ramón Agustina, opened the event with a reflection on the risk of dehumanisation and security in digital transformation processes.

IT consultant and former head of IT systems for RACC, Jordi Ruppmann, then pointed out that, in recent years, 43% of cyberattacks have been perpetrated against SMEs, which, according to the expert, is the reason it is so important to have a Master Plan for Security. 

Afterwards, Eloi Font, managing partner at Font Advocats and expert on digital law, underscored the importance of regulating intellectual property and managing the risks posed by social media, without forgetting how transcendental a protocol for action can be in the event of a crisis. 

Raquel Montaner, head of the Compliance Department at Molins & Silva, shed light on the function of compliance officers and the various risk prevention models that may be applied in the digital world. She also urged companies to implement crime prevention models, so they themselves do not become the perpetrators of cyberattacks.

In a more practical manner, Mònica Caellas, a criminal lawyer at the same office, gave advice and recommendations on how to respond to the incidents mentioned during the workshop and to some of the most common cybercrimes in the corporate world.
