Guillem Carabí participates in a round table on the restoration of the Vistabella church by the architect Josep M. Jujol

On Friday 8 July, in the Jujol building, which was crammed full of the inhabitants of Vistabella, a round table was held to debate the characteristics of this church restoration project.

The event was presided over by Eudald Roca Gracia, the mayor of La Secuita, and Father Joaquim Fortuny Vizcarro, Dean-President of the Tarragona Cathedral Chapter. The table included contributions from Santi Prats, an architect and designer from the restoration project, our Professor Guillem Carabí, as a specialist on the work of Jujol, Pau Jansà, an architect and member of the Modernism Committee for Tarragona, and Jaume Costa, an architect from the Territorial Services from the Department of Culture in the Catalan Generalitat.

Prior to the round table, the architect Santi Prats gave a presentation on the imminent church restoration project, where scaffolding is already in place. Afterwards, the mayor of La Secuita, the municipality which the village of Vistabella belongs to, gave the floor to the round table. This restoration work has led to great controversy both due to the project-based decisions which will visually alter part of the bell tower, and also due to the lack of public debate on the restoration project, which has been funded with public money.
